Mighty Orbots G - Crunch by Shin-Ian Mighty Orbots G - Crunch by Shin-Ian
Crunch was, in my humble opinion, the most underrated member of the original Mighty Orbots team. The token 'fat guy' of the group, he was also the 'dumb' one and the one with apparently the least capacity for offensive power.

That sucks. No more!

As his name suggests, Crunch likes to eat things, but rather than the pac-man like capacity of the original, this redesign links the consumption to gravity-based powers. This Crunch uses miniature black holes to absorb vast amounts of matter, converting it directly into energy. And being able to toss temporary singularities around would go a long way towards improving his attack potential, don't you think?

Freaking BADASS, but I would question how badass his powers are, they make him overpowered compared to the rest of the team. How about his gluttonous abilities be put to use by having him use the material to do mid-battle repairs? Or forging weapons mid-battle. The Gravity powers are pretty cool, but I think they should be reserved for Mighty Orbots.

At least he doesn't look moronic anymore.

Hah, thanks. And yes, widespread gravity powers would be a tad much for just Crunch, so I should clarify: alone, he can really only produce micro black holes, enough to destroy small to medium-sized objects. If you've ever played Rockman X3, think of the Gravity Well weapon of Gravity Beetle. Combined into Mighty Orbots, this power is magnified, till at full output they can produce something just beneath the Black Hole Cluster of the Granzon from Super Robot Wars.

One more thing: Orbots needs to be remade, just so we can hear that awesome theme song in HD.

This I agree with 100%!

It's not like the remake has much to live up to, anyway.

The show definitely had its ups and downs, but the production values were always very high and the overall concepts were usually pretty good. I think they were kind of pigeonholed into producing a show that they thought would appeal to American audiences at the time, which is why I think I get a strong Hanna-Barbera vibe from the voice acting and dialogue.

A remake could stand to be a lot more daring. Audiences these days, particularly for animation, expect a lot more than just episodic Monster-of-the-Week stuff. I would put a lot more emphasis on developing the villains, for instance.

Oh, DEFINITELY. You need something that can actually pose a THREAT to Mighty Orbots.

Crunch looks badass!

Crunch gets no respect; he single-handedly saves the whole team on several occasions, and everyone still kind of makes fun of him for being chubby and a little slow. I just think he's laid back, because he knows he's awesome.

I agree. Crunch may not be very big on brains, but he's usually very well-meaning despite his massive and insatiable appitite. In fact, Crunch seems to be the most innocent and childlike of the group.
